On Tuesday, August 19, 2025, Divisional Commissioner Jean Pedro Mars was installed as the new Head of the Coast Guard, replacing Divisional Inspector Jeanty Duroil.

It should be recalled that in January 2017, Divisional Commissioner Jean Pedro Mars, while on study leave, received training in maritime navigation.

A graduate in Law, Divisional Commissioner Jean Pedro Mars has a solid academic background, including a Bachelor of Management from the University of Sherbrooke (Quebec, Canada); a specialist in the implementation of safety planning and management, maritime and port security, and the International Maritime Officer Course at the Coast Guard Academy (Virginia, USA) and the Naval War College (USA).
