iciHaiti - Social Security : 58th anniversary of OFATMA
The Office for Workplace Accident, Sickness, and Maternity Insurance (OFATMA) celebrated its 58th anniversary on Thursday, August 28, 2025, through a series of spiritual and institutional activities.

The day opened with a thanksgiving mass celebrated in the gardens of the Central Office in Tabarre, attended by Vikerson Garnier, Director General, all members of his office, executives, and a large number of the institution's employees.

The commemoration continued at the Karibe Convention Center Hotel, where an official reception brought together various figures from the political, administrative, and social worlds, including the Prime Minister's representative, Presidential Advisor Louis Gérald Gilles; Ministers Patrick Pélissier (Justice), Georges Wilbert Franck (Social Affairs), Pedrica Saint Jean (Women's Affairs); representatives from the institution's peripheral units; several directors of partner institutions; and numerous OFATMA employees.

A Record of Significant Progress

In his opening remarks, Vikerson Garnier outlined the achievements made since his appointment as head of the institution.

Highlights of this record :
• Administrative regularization of approximately one hundred contract employees, some with more than ten years of service; • Effective processing of more than 10,000 files, reflecting increased operational efficiency;
• The membership of 74 new companies, consolidating OFATMA's insured base;
• Specialized training for more than 40 administrative and financial executives, aimed at improving management, public finance, and procurement practices;
• Strengthening of the healthcare provider network, materialized by the signing of more than 30 protocols guaranteeing continuous, high-quality service;
• Historic 143.31% increase in budgetary allocations for healthcare, placing the insured at the center of the institution's priorities;
• Distribution of nearly 6,000 new insurance cards, facilitating effective access to services;
• 86.96% increase in the mandatory reserve fund, reflecting prudent and forward-looking resource management.

"OFATMA is growing rapidly" said Garnier, who congratulated all staff for their commitment, emphasizing that these results represent an important lever for the future of social protection in Haiti.
