On Friday, August 29, 2025, the General Directorate of Immigration, in close coordination with security forces, arrested 1,343 Haitians in an irregular migration situation : 137 in the greater Santo Domingo area, 59 in Santiago de los Caballeros; 49 in La Vega; 82 in Mao/Santiago Rodríguez; 134 in the eastern zone; 49 in Azua; 24 in Barahona; 80 in Montecristi; 75 in Elías Piña, 51 in Jimaní, 51 in Las Palmas, and 45 in Pedernales, among others.

In addition to this number, 324 people were intercepted by the army; 124 by the National Police; 76 by Cesfront (Central Environmental Protection Agency); 22 by the Navy...

The control operations received support from the Ministry of Defense, the Air Force, the Ciutran (National Commission for the Protection of Haitian Nationals), and the Digest (Digest), among other public institutions.

On the same day, another 1,413 Haitians in an irregular migration situation were repatriated to Haiti : 653 at the Elías Piña border crossing: 514 to Dajabón, 147 to Jimaní, and 99 to Pedernales.

The operations to locate and deport individuals in an irregular migration situation are carried out with respect for the rights, dignity, and safety of those arrested, regardless of their nationality. Special and humanitarian attention is also given to women, particularly pregnant women, the elderly, and minors. These refugees also benefit from assistance from CONANI and are only repatriated if accompanied by adult parents.
