iciHaiti - Agriculture : Haiti and Colombia strengthen their South-South cooperation

Vernet Joseph, Minister of Agriculture, Ms. Vilma Velasquez Uribe, Consul of Colombia in Port-au-Prince, Jairo Torres Oviedo, Rector of the University of Córdoba, and Ms. Manuela Vivas, Representative of the Presidential Agency for International Cooperation of Colombia (APC), signed a joint declaration to strengthen their South-South cooperation in the agricultural sector.

The initiative aims to modernize Haitian agriculture through institutional strengthening, student and professional mobility, postgraduate scholarships, and the creation of a binational chamber of commerce.

The partnership will also support research centers, production organizations, specialized laboratories (germplasm banks, microorganisms, etc...), and agricultural infrastructure (irrigation, drainage, plant and animal quarantine).

This declaration marks a decisive step towards a sustainable and innovative agricultural partnership.
