iciHaiti - Ethiopia : Haiti at the 2nd CARICOM / African Union Summit
On Saturday, September 6, 2025, Edgard Leblanc Fils, Presidential Transition Advisor, landed in Addis Ababa, Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, to participate in the 2nd CARICOM/African Union (AU) Summit.

This summit, which will be held under the theme "Justice for Africans and People of African Descent through Reparations", will bring together heads of state and government as well as high-level representatives from international organizations such as the UN, the African Union, the World Bank, and other key institutions.

Discussions will focus on reparations related to the transatlantic slave trade, strengthening strategic partnerships between Africa and the Caribbean, as well as specific issues such as :

• Advocacy for increased funding for the United Nations Trust Fund for Haiti;
• Compliance with international security commitments;
• Strengthened support for the Kenyan-led Multinational Security Support Mission (MMSS) as part of efforts to stabilize the country and organize free and fair elections.

Councillor Edgard Leblanc Fils will deliver a speech on behalf of the Transitional Council this Sunday, September 7, 2025, and will use this summit to strengthen relations between Haiti, CARICOM member States, and the African Union.
