iciHaiti - Cap-Haitien : Evaluation Tour of the Drinking Water Program

Engineer Théophil Ostinvil, Director General of the National Directorate of Drinking Water and Sanitation (DINEPA), accompanied by a delegation from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), is touring the North department from September 22 to 25, 2025, to assess the implementation of the IDB-funded Drinking Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene Program for the Grand North.

This highly technical evaluation and monitoring tour began in the city of Cap-Haitien with visits to several construction sites, including the construction of the Regional Laboratory building and the new Administrative Office of the city's Technical Operations Center (CTE).

As part of this assessment, a strategic meeting was held at the office of the Regional Office for Drinking Water and Sanitation (OREPA-Nord), with the Technical Assistant by Results (ATPR) of Gonaïves participating via videoconference, who presented the progress of her work.

It should be noted that, prior to the virtual meeting with Gonaïves, a first in-person meeting had taken place with the ATPR of Cap-Haitien.

The bilateral cooperation between DINEPA and IDB, at the level of OREPA-Nord, reflects the desire of both institutions to strengthen water sector governance, ensure the quality of the infrastructure currently being built, and guarantee better access to drinking water and sanitation for the populations of the Grand-North, Grand-South, and Centre regions (particularly those of Gonaïves).
