iciHaiti - Climate Change : Launch of the National Health Adaptation Plan
The Ministry of Public Health, in collaboration with the Ministry of the Environment (MOE) and with technical support from the Pan American Health Organization/World Health Organization (PAHO/WHO), officially presented its National Health Adaptation Plan (NHAP) at a national workshop earlier this month.

This plan, which covers the period 2025–2029, defines Haiti's priorities for strengthening resilience to climate change by reducing health vulnerabilities, establishing effective governance, and mobilizing the resources necessary for its implementation. It also provides monitoring and evaluation mechanisms to measure progress.

The workshop provided an opportunity to present the NHAP's strategic objectives, examine its links with the overall National Adaptation Plan, and analyze the impacts of climate change on health, including the increase in climate-sensitive diseases and increased pressure on health services. The discussions resulted in the validation of institutional roles and the creation of a coordination mechanism to lead implementation.

With this launch, Haiti moves from planning to action. A work plan for the first year has been approved, and a coordination framework is now in place. The next steps will involve operationalizing this mechanism, conducting regular assessments, and developing climate and health projects, including proposals for the Green Climate Fund.
