iciHaiti - Cap-Haitien : First «Samdi Sitwayen» for the environment
On Saturday, September 27, 2025, several organizations, institutions, and social groups participated in the first "Samdi Sitwayen" (Citizen Saturday), a special initiative that highlights the commitment of each citizen to protecting the community's environment.

For this first event, several partners such as Pouèll Haiti, Génération 2026, Rotaract, JCI, FECIS, Le Marco, and others participated in this social activity.

It should be noted that the Cap-Haïtien City Hall, by decision of the Municipal Commission, has established a citizen mobilization every last Saturday of the month, dedicated to social and civic activities dedicated to collective actions and activities beneficial to the environment, such as :

• Cleaning streets and public spaces;
• Planting and watering trees;
• Beautifying neighborhoods;
• Raising awareness through the media;
• Organizing community initiatives such as environmental walks or awareness campaigns.

The city will be divided into blocks to better distribute everyone's efforts, and a cleanup map will be created to avoid duplication. Residents of the targeted areas are encouraged to actively participate to ensure widespread participation.

"Samdi Sitwayen" is not just a one-off activity, but a citizen movement that places solidarity and civic-mindedness at the heart of protecting Cap-Haïtien's environment.

The Municipal Commission, through its Communications Office, therefore invites all institutions, organizations, and citizens to join this initiative in large numbers to build a cleaner, greener, and more welcoming city.

All businesses can participate directly in the activities or support the groups involved in the movement with material donations, logistical support, or other forms of contribution.

The municipal administration encourages all other organizations and citizens to join this great solidarity movement. Together, we can change the face of the municipality and build a city worthy of its historical and cultural heritage.
