Laurent Saint Cyr, President pro tempore and coordinator of the Transition Council, left the country on Sunday, October 5, 2025. https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-45932-haiti-news-zapping.html

In Florida, he will meet with community and religious leaders of the Haitian diaspora in Florida before flying to Japan.

During his stay in Miami, Laurent Saint-Cyr met with Congresswoman Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick. Discussions focused on ongoing efforts to restore security, strengthen democratic institutions, and promote sustainable economic development in the country. They also addressed challenges related to migration issues and the ongoing advocacy for the renewal of the HOPE/HELP Act.

Laurent Saint-Cyr expressed his appreciation to Cherfilus-McCormick for his reaffirmed support for Haitian-led initiatives, particularly aimed at strengthening security, stability, and sustainable progress for the benefit of the entire Nation, before departing the United States for Japan.

During his stay in Japan, Saint-Cyr will meet with His Majesty Emperor Naruhito. They will discuss various topics related to bilateral relations between Haiti and Japan, a partner that supports efforts to restore security in Haiti, particularly through funding for the Multinational Mission.

He will continue to advocate for increased cooperation for the success of priority transition projects. The President will also take advantage of his stay to participate, on October 11, in a special day organized in honor of Haiti as part of the Osaka 2025 World Expo https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-45586-haiti-japan-haiti-at-the-expo-2025-osaka.html .
