iciHaiti - Economy : Exports from the Dominican Republic to Haiti increased by 31.8% in 9 months

The economic, political, and social crisis, as well as the insecurity affecting Haiti, have not affected or limited demand for goods from the Dominican Republic, to the extent that Dominican exports to Haiti increased by 31.8% during the first nine months of the year.

According to data from the Dominican General Directorate of Customs (DGA), exports to Haiti reached US$876.9 million between January and September 2025, exceeding by more than US$211 million the US$665.2 million exported during the same period in 2024.

Despite the crisis Haiti is experiencing, economic activity is continuing in various sectors, particularly outside the capital, Port-au-Prince, where criminal gangs are more prevalent, hampering its healthy development.

Despite this, Haitians generate resources to meet the demand for locally manufactured products, including food and various household items such as personal hygiene products, construction materials, etc. During the first nine months of this year, Haitian exports almost equaled the total exports for 2024 (US$899.5 million).

Regarding imports from Haiti, the Dominican Republic has virtually no demand for goods from that country. They reached only US$5.6 million in nine months.

This indicates that trade between the two Nations is almost entirely in favor of the Dominican Republic, with a ratio of 99.4 to 0.6, according to customs data.
