iciHaIti - Security : Closing of the first week of training for SIMPAP firefighters
The first week of training for firefighters from the Port-au-Prince Municipal Fire Department (SIMPAP) and Civil Protection agents concluded in an atmosphere marked by motivation, discipline, and a strong desire to learn.

This initiative, supported by the Port-au-Prince City Hall, aims to strengthen operational capabilities and professionalize emergency response teams to ensure better preparedness for natural disasters and urban incidents.

The sessions alternated between theoretical courses and practical workshops, covering a wide range of essential topics.

For the firefighters :
Study of the scientific principles of fire :
Combustion mechanisms, flame propagation, and extinguishing methods according to the types of flammable materials.

Identification and management of hazardous materials :
Risk assessment, prevention, and safe intervention.

Emergency Response Guide (ERG) Training :
Tools for rapid incident coordination and management.

Practical Workshops :
Transporting, positioning, and setting up ladders for safe work at height.

Emergency Care :
Treatment of burns, first aid, and proper use of personal protective equipment.

For Civil Protection Personnel :
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR):
Chest compressions, artificial ventilation, and use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).

Triage Exercises :
Application of the emergency color code (red, yellow, green, black) to prioritize victims according to their condition.

Safe Victim Removal Workshops :
Manual Carrying Techniques, Removal with Chairs or Sheets :
Advanced Operational Communication : Strengthening Inter-Team Coordination and Discipline in Emergency Situations.

The training placed particular emphasis on inter-institutional cooperation, teamwork, and hierarchy, considered essential pillars of any effective emergency operation.

The week concluded with a discussion and thank-you session, marking the end of the first cycle of intensive training. Future sessions will focus on developing advanced intervention techniques to consolidate acquired skills and enhance ongoing training.
