iciHaiti - 38th anniversary of the Vaillant Alley Massacre : Tribute from the Prime Minister
On Saturday, November 29, 2025, as part of the commemoration of the 38th anniversary of the Vaillant Alley massacre, Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé paid a national tribute to the voters of Vaillant Alley who were cowardly murdered at the Argentine Bellegarde National School polling station on November 29, 1987, during their courageous struggle for democracy and the fundamental rights of Haitians. They were killed by neo-Duvalierist paramilitaries, with the active complicity of the Armed Forces of Haiti (FAd'H).

"These martyrs, through their courage and sacrifice, gave our people the sacred right to vote and the possibility of dreaming of a more just, stable, and united nation. Their memory is a constant call to vigilance, responsibility, and action to guarantee security for all and national unity."

38 years after these tragic events, security, stability, and national unity remain at the heart of our sovereign duty [...] The violence in Vaillant Alley marked a turning point in Haiti’s history. It reminds every citizen that freedom and the right to vote are hard-won gains that require protection, respect, and constant strengthening [...]

On this day of national remembrance, we celebrate not only the courage of those who sacrificed themselves for democracy, but we also reaffirm our commitment to building a country where hope becomes reality, where security for all is guaranteed, and where national unity guides every decision of the State [...] May their memory inspire every action in favor of stability, democracy, and the future of our Nation," concluded the Prime Minister.
