iciHaiti - Basketball : Inter-University Games, IHECE crowned West Champion

The 2025 National Inter-University Competitions concluded on Sunday, November 30th in the West Department with the grand basketball final, held at Place Boyer in Pétion-ville. The event took place in a vibrant atmosphere where thousands of young people gathered to celebrate peace and fraternity, the values ​​championed by this inaugural edition.

The Institute of Higher Commercial and Economic Studies (IHECE) emerged victorious, defeating La Pléiade University of Haiti (UPLEH) 66-59 in the final.

Present at the final, along with representatives from several partner institutions, Niola Lynn Sarah Octavius, the Minister of Youth and Sports, emphasized the importance of a strong partnership between public institutions, educational stakeholders, and national and international organizations. She expressed her gratitude to all those who contributed to the success of these competitions.

In her address, the Minister placed young people at the heart of national priorities, emphasizing their essential role in building a peaceful and inclusive future. She made a solemn appeal to them, imbued with hope and a sense of responsibility : "Continue to proudly uphold the banner of Peace ! Continue to make sport a universal language of unity and respect! Continue to believe that a reconciled and strong Haiti will emerge from your commitment !"

More than thirty (30) universities from the West, North, and South participated in these competitions, organized to promote peace, social cohesion, and civic education. Beyond the victories, performances, and convivial atmosphere, this initiative marks a new stage in peacebuilding efforts. It demonstrates the commitment of university students to a stable, peaceful, and progressive Haiti.
