Towards the restructuring of the Carrefour (Haiti) Reception Center

In an effort to create a better environment for the children and adolescents housed at the Carrefour Reception Center (CAC), Marc-Elie Nelson, Minister of Social Affairs and Labor (MAST), met on June 11, 2026, with the members of the CAC Management Committee.

In his address, Minister Nelson pledged his full support to the new committee. He stated that the Carrefour Reception Center is a major concern for the Government. To this end, he announced a series of measures aimed at addressing the various challenges facing the institution.

Among these measures is the opening, in partnership with the Economic and Social Assistance Fund (FAES), of a fully equipped restaurant with kitchen utensils and a variety of food items, to ensure better nutrition for the children and staff of the center.

Furthermore, steps are being taken with the Ministry of Economy and Finance to regularize the salary situation of the center's 84 employees.

Following this meeting, a three-member steering committee was appointed. The members are Bruny Eustache, Coordinator; Frantzy Cadet, Human Resources Manager; and Peterson Pierre, Kitchen Manager.

Through this initiative, MAST reaffirms its commitment to strengthening social protection and improving the conditions for welcoming, caring for, and fostering the development of the country's most vulnerable children.
