NOTICE - During the summer holidays, MUPANAH will open its doors free of charge

The General Directorate of the Museum of the Haitian National Pantheon (MUPANAH) informs the public that, during the summer holidays, from July 6 to August 31, 2026, the Museum will be open free of charge.

Visits will take place every Monday and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., and every Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

MUPANAH invites all categories of visitors—schoolchildren, students, young people, adults, researchers, and tourists—to come and discover or rediscover the richness of its collections and deepen their knowledge of Haitian history and culture.

Inaugurated in 1983, the museum is located in the heart of downtown on the Place du Champ-de-Mars. It boasts a unique architecture, being largely built underground. The museum traces the entire history of Haiti, from the time of the Taíno people and the arrival of Christopher Columbus in 1492 to the present day. Its collections include, among others :

  • The Fathers of the Nation : The museum houses the remains and personal belongings of key figures of the Haitian Revolution, including Toussaint Louverture, Jean-Jacques Dessalines, Henri Christophe, and Alexandre Pétion;

  • The Anchor of the Santa María : The museum displays the actual anchor of Christopher Columbus's flagship, which ran aground on the Haitian coast in 1492;

  • The Liberty Bell : Used to announce the abolition of slavery in Saint-Domingue in 1793;

  • A Modern Art Gallery : An entire section is dedicated to paintings by world-renowned Haitian masters.
