Suspected petroleum products - the Ministry will conduct analyses
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MCI) informs the public that it has taken note of the information and concerns recently relayed regarding the quality of certain petroleum products intended for the domestic market. https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-48457-haiti-news-zapping.html The Ministry clarifies that at this stage, no definitive conclusions can be drawn regarding the conformity or non-conformity of the shipment in question without the necessary technical and scientific analyses. Therefore, it urges consumers to exercise caution and remain calm. The MCI reminds importers and distributors of their obligation to place products on the market that comply with applicable standards and requirements and to guarantee their traceability. Within its remit, the Ministry intends to conduct the verifications and controls within its jurisdiction and, when specialized analyses are required, to request technical support from institutions or structures authorized to carry out the necessary assessments, solely for the purpose of protecting Haitian consumers. The MCI urges the operators concerned to exercise the utmost diligence and reminds them that any duly established non-compliance will result in the measures stipulated in Article 16 of the decree of March 11, 2020, which sets forth the rules relating to the safety of goods and services, fair economic transactions, and consumer protection.
