23 high-level Cuban veterinarians in Haiti for 2 years

A brigade of 23 high-level Cuban veterinarians, each with between 20 and 30 years of experience, will be deployed in the 10 departments of Haiti for a period of 2 years. They will oversee, among others, 75 young Haitian veterinarians back home [between 2006 and 2009], after their studies in Cuba, whose the majority, working in the Ministry, in vaccination programs and surveillance of animal diseases. The first 10 veterinarians of this Brigade, recently arrived in Haiti, are already at work.

The Diaspora realizes two projects in Grand-Goȃve

The Haitian association of the Diaspora "Rockland County Haiti Relief" [Neg Lakay Konbit] has recently opened in the community of Grand-Groȃve, a community center with among other things a computer lab that will allow the public to have access to Information Technology and Communication (ICT) and hosting among others, a program for children in difficulty and a program of literacy for women. That same day, the association has laid the foundation stone of the construction of an eco-tourism house which should be completed in April 2013. These two projects are estimated at 500 thousand dollars.

New administrative offices for the prison of Les Cayes

As part of its support for strengthening the rule of law in Haiti, the Minustah to provide the Administration of the civil prison of Les Cayes of new offices. These prefabricated buildings are composed of three room of 10.50 meters long and 7.12 meters wide, fully furnished, equipped and air conditioned.
