iciHaiti - Security : Extension of Chilean troops in Haiti until 2016

With 30 votes for, 2 against and 2 abstentions, the Chilean Senate approved the extension of the presence of Chilean troops in Haiti until 2016. The vote comes at the request of President Michelle Bachelet, who asked a one-year extension.
The Chilean presidential office noted that "the work of the military component, is intended to promote a secure and stable environment for stabilization and reconstruction tasks of Haiti, which is embodied as part of multinational effort involving the participation of our country [Chile], which received high levels of recognition."
With this vote, it is allowed that Chilean troops and supports remain in Haiti and continue their participation in the UN stabilization mission.
