Friday, in the presence among others of President Michel Martelly and Dominique Pierre, the new Minister of Environment https://www.icihaiti.com/en/news-14089-icihaiti-politic-installation-of-the-new-minister-of-environment.html , Haiti celebrated World Environment Day around the national theme "10 Milyon Ayisyen, 10 Milyon Pye Bwa, Pou desann chalè klima a." On this occasion, the Ministry of Environment and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) invited the youth of Haiti to act to protect the environment.

In his speech, the Head of State declared "The World Environment Day celebrated on June 5, challenges us on our shared responsibility to protect our ecosystem. Our willingness to protect our environment requires simple gestures and all behavior. My Administration remains committed to play its part to enable future generations to live in a healthier country. For his part, the new Minister of the Environment has indicated "Nou dwe mete tèt nou ansanm pou sove planèt. Jounen jodi a, sou tout latè ya n’ap fete anviwonman ki se youn nan chwal batay prezidan. Timoun peyi Dayiti se lespwa pou demen miyò, pwoteksyon ak reyabilitasyon anviwonman dwe kòmanse avèk yo. Kelkeswa sektè a, nou dwe mete tèt nou ansanm pou fè peyi a tounen sa’l te ye lontan an, yon peyi tou vèt."
