iciHaiti - Social : 2,709 Sugar cane cutters will receive their permanent residence
Tuesday, with a first group of 250 workers of the cane, the Dominican Government started the process by which they will grant permanent residence to more than 2,700 "cañeros" pensioned by the State under the National Plan for the Regularization of Foreigners, which ended June 17.

The first permanent resident card issued for 5 years, was delivered by the Director of Immigration to the "cañero" Jose Louis, with the number 8029224.

Major-General, Rubén Darío Paulino Sem specified "This process of delivery of card, we start today is another way of the Dominican Government to do justice to regularize all cane workers who receive a State pension or a total of 2,709 workers," adding "it is a way to recognize the rights of these workers and their families, these measures guaranteeing a humane treatment, as it is in the interest of our government," ensuring that this process of legalization of workers pensioners of the cane by the Dominican State will not end until all receive their permanent resident card.
