iciHaiti - Tourism : Stéphanie Villedrouin in Colombia

On the sidelines of her participation in the 21th General Assembly of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) in Medellín (Colombia), the Minister of Tourism, Stephanie B. Villedrouin, met with Taleb Rifai, Secretary General of the UNWTO and Carlos Vogeler, Regional Director for the Americas.

A particularly fruitful meeting based on the progress of tourism projects in Haiti specifically the upcoming launch in Haiti of the Tourism Awareness Campaign in which experts from UNWTO contributed to the establishment.

Recall that Haiti holds the rotating presidency of the 59th meeting of the Regional Commission for the Americas of the World Tourism Organization, Medellín, Colombia. As a reminder, the regional Commissions were established in 1975 as the subsidiary organs of the General Assembly. The 6 commissions usually meet once a year. They allow Member States to maintain contact among themselves and with the Secretariat between two sessions of the General Assembly to which they submit their proposals and express their concerns.

Each Commission elect its own officers for a term of two years from a session of the General Assembly to another.
