iciHaiti - Agriculture : The coffee sector of Haiti in crisis 18/12/2015 08:50:18
In order to help resolve this crisis, Haiti's coffee sector recommends : In the short term : Emergency measures must be taken to facilitate the circulation of money in the affected areas like: the intensification of establishment of nurseries ; =the construction of lakes to store the little water available for nurseries; the establishment of new plantations; regeneration of coffee plantations; financing brigades against rust and beetles and finally the rehabilitation of farm access roads. In the medium and long term : The mobilization of funds for the execution of projects of the Recovery Plan and especially the establishment and reinforcement of a viable research structure; Access to credit has a preferential rate for the conduct of parcels and implementation of activities that creates jobs and wealth to decrease pressure on the parcels and the Institutional Strengthening of the National Institute of Haitian Coffee (INCAH) and of organized structures of the sector.
