iciHaiti - Health : A plan of 900,000 dollars to fight against the ZIKA virus
The Ministry of Public Health, announced the establishment of an action plan to fight against ZIKA virus transmitted through infected mosquito bites. This plan against fever of ZIKA, which will cost nearly 900,000 US dollars (± 52 million gourdes), will run from February to December 2016, revolves around six areas of intervention: the epidemiological surveillance, communication, family planning, the vector control, the management, health care and coordination.

Moreover, the Ministry of Health will emphasize on family planning to fight against the consequences of ZIKA, especially pregnant women and women of childbearing age. Dr. Duperval Guillaume, the Minister of Health urges women to avoid pregnancy to avoid the complications related to the virus recalling that in several cases observed in Brazil, "seems to be a likely factor" of microcephaly and other neurological disorders.

Dr. Georges Dubuche, Director General of Minisutry advises all pregnant women "with symptoms: conjunctivitis, mild fever, muscle and joint pain, fatigue" to present in the nearest health center furthermore asks pregnant women who have no symptoms to go to hospital for prenatal monitoring, recalling that ZIKA virus is asymptomatic, that is to say, we can have it without presenting symptom (80% of cases).
