iciHaiti - FLASH : Causes of the partial collapse of the bridge over the Rivière Grise

Nearly 2 months after the partial collapse, (18 March 2016) of a metal two-lane bridge over the Rivière Grise connecting Cité Soleil to the National #1 https://www.icihaiti.com/en/news-16913-icihaiti-flash-bridge-collapse-on-riviere-grise.html built in 1997 by the US Army, the body of US Army engineers finished evaluating the bridge and the likely causes of this incident.
Based on the conclusions it appears especially that the unregulated use of the bridge, contributed largely to this incident. Indeed, this bridge designed to withstand 30 tonnes maximum vehicle was, according to reports, regularly used by vehicles over 40 tonnes that have affected the structure. Moreover, engineers have found minor damage due to wear (12,000 vehicles per day), but no trace of maintenance report or inspection of the bridge during the last 20 years...
