"The U.S. Embassy in Port au Prince deeply regrets the circumstances leading to the postponement of the MASSIMADI Festival and condemns discrimination, intimidation and threats of violence in any form.

Haiti has a long tradition of tolerance and has undertaken international commitments to respect the rights of all individuals. The United States supports the human rights and fundamental freedoms of all people, allowing them to live peacefully and lawfully without fear of oppression, violence or penalty regardless of their race, color, gender or sexual orientation. "
