iciHaiti - Social : «Valè timoun yo» a project of 1,8 million Euros
Wednesday, the European Union and its partners: the international organization AVSI, the Institute of Welfare and Research, the National Commission for Justice and Peace, the Organization for the Promotion of Young and Children in difficulty closed the project "Valè Timoun yo" a public-private partnership for the protection of children in armed groups and other cases of violence in Haiti, funded to the tune of 1,8 million euros by the European Union.

This project allowed to strengthen the child protection system in several poor neighborhoods of the capital, particularly in Cité Soleil and Martissant. Through the intervention of therapists and social workers in different environments including schools, family and prisons, the project has helped to identify and respond to many cases of violence against children. Other project benefits include support of 900 abused children, 500 children associated with armed groups, 100 women, family head and 100 young girls mothers in the most insecure areas of the capital. In addition, 700 other children were educated and a psychosocial support was provided to 400 families. More than 2,400 children within ten schools will be better protected thanks to the adoption of a code of conduct.
