iciHaiti - Cholera : Laurent Lamothe in the department of Grand'Anse

A delegation of the Foundation Dr. Louis G. Lamothe (FLGL), led by former Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe, has traveled to the department of Grand'Anse to provide assistance and continue to show solidarity with the residents of this hard hit region following the passage of Hurricane Matthew.

This delegation was composed notably of the former Minister of Tourism, Stéphanie Balmir Villedrouin and personalities from the media environment including among other Valério Saint-Louis of Télé Image, John Fritz Moreau of Juno7 and Amy Brown of Bobby Bones Show, was accompanied during his visit by the Mayors of Jérémie, Claude Harry Milord and of Abricots, Jean Ricaldo Louis.

The FLGL's mission was to enable affected populations to have access to a water filter to protect them against waterborne diseases, especially cholera. Some 1,000 water filters were distributed in Grand'Anse in the communes of : Abricots, Anse du Clerc. Anse d'Hainault, Corail, Les Irois, Roseaux, Pestel. Hygiene kits and food were also distributed to the Anse du Clerc where the health and environmental situation is dramatic.

Laurent Lamothe, visibly affected by the magnitude of the situation and the plight of the affected families, personally proceeded to Anse du Clerc to a demonstration to the beneficiaries on how to use water filters to combat cholera.
