iciHaiti - Diaspora : The Montréal Charter of Rights and Responsibilities in Creole 01/11/2016 09:18:48
Friday, the Mayor of Montreal, Denis Coderre, accompanied by Lionel Perez, executive committee member of the City of Montreal and responsible for governance and democracy, received to City Hall, the members of the Haitian community of Montreal in order to underline the translation in Creole of the "Montreal Charter of rights and responsibilities." The event was attended by Youri Chevry, Mayor of Port-au-Prince and the Consul of Haiti in Montreal, Justin Viard. "The Haitian community [over 100,000 members] contributes greatly to the development and influence of Montreal [...] the initiative to translate into Creole the Montréal Charter of rights and responsibilities, is a great way to celebrate this contribution," said Mayor Coderre. Note that the translation in Creole, was realized b ichel-Ange Hyppolite, M. Ed., Member of the Haitian Creole Academy and Laureate of the month of black history of the City of Montreal in 2003.
