iciHaiti - Politics : Dominican Customs lets out sugar containers for Haiti
The 48 containers of sugar in transit from Honduras, retained by Dominican customs at the Port of Caucedo (Santo-Domingo), whose final destination was Haiti, were finally allowed to leave the Dominican territory, ending a conflict at the Border that had lasted since last December 16 https://www.icihaiti.com/en/news-19540-haiti-trade-border-closed-to-ouanaminthe-in-retaliation.html

The Directorate General of Dominican customs escorted to the border, 20 of the 48 containers simultaneously while the other 28 sugar containers have crossed the border in Jimani.

Retained on the order of the Minister of Agriculture, Angel Estevez, this same minister, who after a meeting with the governor of Dajabón, Ramona Rodriguez Quezada, traders, transporters and Haitian businessmen owners of the goods, that has authorized the departure of the containers.

It is still unknown the real reasons why the Dominican authorities retained this important sugar cargo to Haiti...
