Thursday, the Organization of American States (OAS) completed the deployment of the Mission that will observe the legislative and local elections to be held in Haiti on Sunday January 29.

The team, headed by former Uruguayan senator Juan Raúl Ferreira and comprised by 77 international observers of 21 countries, will analyze, amongst others issues related to electoral organization and technology, gender, electoral justice and security.

This constitutes the 17th Electoral Observation Mission (EOM) that the OAS deploys to Haiti. The OAS had accompanied the ongoing electoral process since the year 2015.

The OAS also sent an Electoral Mission to observe the presidential elections held on November 20, 2016.
