Tuesday, as part of the 22nd National Day of the Movement of Haitian Women, Senator Dieudonne Luma Etienne, Chair of the Commission "Equity of Gender", tabled in the Senate https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-24001-haiti-politic-two-important-bills-passed-in-the-senate.html a law proposal on the prevention, protection, punishment and elimination of violence against Haitian women.

According to the internal regulations of the Senate, this bill was put to the vote and voted by 17 Senators for and 1 abstention.

According to the Senator, the provisions of this document call for and complement the obligations of the Haitian State to harmonize national legislation with international instruments. As a result, this law aiming to combat violence against women is proving to be more than worthwhile, taking into account the international obligations of the Haitian State.
