Following rumors circulating in the media about possible problems at its plant, the Société du Rhum Barbancourt would like to inform the press and the general public, that "for a few days, some residents have been demonstrating to demand the asphalting where is located the company.
Tuesday morning, these protests have overflowed and the officials of the Société du Rhum Barbancourt have had to call on the police to protect their employees and their facilities. The premises of the Company were temporarily closed that day.
The Société du Rhum Barbancourt wishes to thank the local authorities and the community members who assisted them and remains convinced that their call for calm will echo."
