iciHaiti - Port-de-Paix : Flood problems, the Ministry of the Environment wants to take action
The repeated floods in the city of Port-de-Paix show the level of vulnerability of this city at each episode of heavy rain. Aware of this situation, the Ministry of the Environment via theDirectorate of Forestry and Renewable Energies (DFER) and the Unit of Studies and Programming, launched on April 12th, in collaboration with the Departmental Directorate North-West of the Ministry of Agriculture and local authorities, the process of carry out a diagnosis of the watersheds of the commune of Port-de-Paix in order to take measures to alleviate the recurring flooding problems of the city.

Meeting between the actors, field visits at the watershed level, were among others the activities of the first day of this mission "The problem of floods in the city of Port-de-Paix is of great concern to the Ministry," said Eder Audate , Director of the DFER adding "to be able to limit the damage, it is necessary to know the phenomena well and to intervene on all the aspects in a global approach (upstream and downstream), including the participation of all the actors," to allow the Ministry of the Environment to take adequate measures to deal with this situation.
