iciHaiti - Diaspora : Message for the 50th anniversary of the Tabou Combo Orchestra 23/04/2018 08:48:29
"It is hard for me to contain my emotions in this historic moment when a grateful and proud Nation accompanies compatriots with extraordinary talents who, thanks to their vision, their discipline and their endurance, are now part of the cultural heritage of our dear Haiti. Many of you here have grown up under the influence of Tabou Combo's music. Some of the compositions in this group are today classics that my compatriots of all ages are humming regularly. So many tributes to Tabou Combo. As for me who was not born from the last rain, this fiftieth anniversary of Tabou Combo brings me sweet memories of youth. I cannot prevent me to think of 1968 at Rue Rigaud in Pétion-Ville. Tabou and I know each other very well since my nephew was a member of the group with which he still collaborates occasionally. I am more than happy to have been invited to be with you on this occasion. This evening is one of the most significant events of my life. I am proud to be part of the history of a musical formation that illustrates the richness of our culture. It only remains for me to thank you for having came in number to pay tribute to Tabou Combo, our national treasure. Thanks Tabou Combo ! We have a reason to be proud !" IH/ iciHaiti
