Ambassador Sison visited this week Les Cayes’ Emergency Operation Center (COUD). With support from the U.S. government, the Haitian Directorate for Civil Protection (DPC) leads centers in all 10 departments that are ready to respond during natural disasters.

Through training and information sharing, the U.S. government supports the DPC and its early warning system to save lives during natural disasters. "We remain committed to supporting Haiti’s disaster preparedness. Through USAID and the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) , humanitarian activities focus on urgent needs among affected population in southwest Haiti including cholera response and emergency health services; logistics support; water, sanitation, and hygiene assistance; and food assistance," said Ambassador Sison.
