iciHaiti - Social : 260 young Haitians learn to play chess
For 6 months, 260 young Haitians from the Southeast Department, mostly girls, will learn to play chess, a strategy game, thanks to the collaboration between Plan International Haiti and the Alliance Française d'Echec of Jacmel.

"We, in the community, are happy to discover this game which I have seen some boys play," says Rachel, 16, who has never missed a lesson since classes began.

An initiative that parents appreciate "This is a healthy space in which my daughter will learn to stir his sense of observation and to cultivate patience," rejoices Emmanuel, a parent who came to observe the activities.

This initiative is part of the strategy of Plan International Haiti's South-East Program Unit to support the development of children, especially girls, but also to promote gender equality. The organization uses its theory of change to change norms, attitudes and behaviors that perpetuate gender inequalities around the world.
