iciHaiti - Economy : Meeting on the export of Haitian products in the neighboring Republic 07/05/2018 08:26:38
The Ministry of Trade and Industry (MCI) received on May 2 a delegation from the Dominican Republic to continue the renegotiation of the modification of the List XXVI of customs tariff concessions, within the framework of the procedures established by the World Trade Organization (WTO). This phase of discussions follows two previous meetings between the two countries, the second of which took place last February in the Dominican Republic. Haiti in these negotiations seeks to allow the Haitian economy to gain more profit in trade relations between the two republics including the export of some of its products. In his words of circumstances, Daniel Denis the Director General of the MCI stressed the importance of these negotiations for Haiti, which seeks to reduce its trade deficit with the neighboring Republic recalling that Haiti exports nearly 50 million US dollars to our neighbors while they export nearly a billion dollars worth of products to the Haitian market.
