iciHaiti - DR : Seizure of 1.5 tons of smuggled garlic from Haiti 06/08/2018 08:19:23
General Sugar Putzi Frugis Martínez, Director of Cesfront, said the smuggled goods were found near the port of La Piedra in Montecristi, where the army seized 150 bags of garlic weighing 22 pounds each. Garlic was introduced to Dominican territory by the maritime border with Haiti, in a home-made boat, equipped with two outboard motors, 40 HP Yamaha Enduro. The Cesfront has indicated that the garlic as well as the boat and the outboard engines will be delivered to the Montecristi prosecutor's office for the purposes of the corresponding law.
