iciHaiti - USA : $200,000 donation for the renovation of Vivianne Gauthier's House
Wednesday, Jean Michel Lapin the new Minister of Culture accompanied by its Director General Yves Penel, participated in the symbolic presentation ceremony, by the American Embassy, of a $200,000 envelope to the Viviane Gauthier Foundation.

Indeed, this grant, from the "Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation" is to be used for the renovation and restoration of the House of Viviane Gauthier located at rue M. Maison, which has seen the birth of several generations of dancers who have "Shining a thousand lights," Minister Lapin committed to involve the Ministry of Culture in this restoration project.

"The Ministry thanks the partners of this initiative (US Embassy, Fokal, Vivianne Gauthier Foundation) for associating it with this project. By restoring this high place, this temple of dance, it's keeping alive in the collective memory the work of this great lady who gave her life to dance because dance was her life," welcoming the support of the Ambassadors Fund , especially the contribution of the Embassy of the United States of America, through its cultural section, in the implementation of this project.

For the Ambassador of the United States in Haiti Michèle Jeanne Sison, this grant is an investment in the preservation of Haiti's past and in the future of its cultural life.

The American diplomat believes that the conservation of old buildings, gingerbread style, can not only help preserve the unique heritage of the country but especially create more tourism opportunities that contribute to economic growth.
