iciHaiti - Insecurity : Vladjimir Legagneur, in the report RSF 2018, of journalists died in office

In its annual report of abuses against journalists in the world published on 18 December, Reporters Without Borders (RSF) revealed that in 2018, 80 journalists (professionals, non-professionals and media assistants) were killed in the performance of their duties (+ 8% compared to the previous year), 348 are currently in detention and 60 are being held hostage.

"The violence against journalists reaches a new level this year; all the seers are red "says Christophe Deloire, Secretary General of RSF adding "The hatred against journalists uttered, even claimed, by political leaders, religious or unscrupulous businessmen, multiplied by social networks, which bring to this a heavy responsibility, legitimize this violence and weaken, a little more every day, journalism and with it, democracy."

With 15 dead, Afghanistan is this year's deadliest country for the media, followed by Syria (11 dead) and Mexico (9 dead) the most dangerous peace country for journalists.

Regarding Haiti, the report quotes the case of photojournalist journalist Vladjimir Legagneur (30 years old) missing on March 14, 2018 in Grand-Ravine https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-23931-haiti-security-the-mystery-remains-around-the-disappearance-of-journalist-legagneur.html , in the neighborhood of Martissant, one of the poorest and most violent areas of the capital Port-au-Prince since March 14, 2018 in Haiti. Despite the insistence of his family and local journalists' associations, the results of US DNA testing of bones have never been made public. Since neither the police nor the Haitian justice announced advances in the investigation.
