Information confirmed by Inspector Gary Desrosiers, deputy spokesman of the National Police of Haiti (PNH) who said he was unable to comment on the information circulating that the bullet would have been by a police officer in plain clothes, announcing that an investigation had been opened to determine the exact circumstances of this tragedy.

In addition, he said that several people had been arrested for acts of banditry and a weapon seized ; two plainclothes police officers who carried their service weapon despite the prohibition to walk with a firearm in the parade with the exception of uniformed police officers were also arrested.
