iciHaiti - Social : The FDDM-H won the prestigious Emilio Mignone International Human Rights Prize

The Fondation Devoir de Mémoire-Haiti (FDDM-H) won the prestigious Emilio Mignone International Human Rights Prize from the Argentine Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Member of the Latin American and Caribbean Network of Places of Memory (RESLAC), the FDDM-H continues to work tirelessly, in difficult conditions, to perpetuate Memory as an open door to truth, justice, solidarity and Rule of law, in a country where memory tends to fade.

The Devoir de Mémoire-Haiti Foundation, whose mission is to "seek the truth, promote justice, develop solidarity, build a rule of law, preserve our dignity", plans to organize several activities to recall the massacres committed by the Duvaliéristes. It aims to build a historic pyramid and then transform Fort-Dimanche (Fort-de-la-Mort), this extermination camp, to make it a Memorial Park in memory of the victims of the dictatorship.

Note that the Fondation Devoir De Mémoire-Haiti also produces a series of radio programs entitled "Vin Kouté". These history lessons of our past now enrich the lives of many citizens, young and old. These shows are broadcasted on Radio Kiskeya (88.5 FM) every Wednesday at 10 a.m. or Thursdays at 9 a.m. and on Community Radios across the country.

About Emilio Mignone :

Emilio Mignone was an illustrious Argentinian lawyer who had the pain of seeing his daughter arrested, but seeing her leave he assured her that the justice of his country would save her. Unfortunately, like so many others, this loved one never returned. The Emilio Mignone Prize was created by the Argentine government in memory of the incomparable work of this great human rights defender.
