On the occasion of the Christmas and New Year celebrations, the former President of the Senate and of the National Assembly, the former Senator Simon Dieuseul Desras delivered a message of circumstance:

"My dear friends,

2020 has been one of the most painful years for us earthlings, especially with the disastrous consequences of the novel coronavirus pandemic which has claimed many lives around the world.

But until now, the Great Architect of the Universe is still saving our lives as we enter this difficult year which is coming to an end in a few days.

I took this opportunity to express my best wishes for health, peace, love, sharing and prosperity to all of you for the year 2021. I hope with all my heart that it will be better in every way compared to the previous one.

I especially hope that the sons and daughters of my country will, for once, know how to rise to the occasion, transcend themselves and overcome their ego in order to get our dear Haiti out of the specter of chaos, of political instability, social and economic, then allow the country to take the path of progress and sustainable development.
