iciHaiti - Bahamas : A Haitian boat captain sentenced to 5 years in prison 27/12/2020 09:52:33
Captain Clodius Michel (33) from La Tortue Island, imprisoned for 2 years in the Bahamas, failed in his attempt to have his 5-year sentence reduced before the Court of Appeals. Let's remind that Clodius Michel was arrested on June 23, 2018, after officers of the Drug Enforcement Unit discovered, concealed in his boat docked in Inagua (one of the 32 districts of the Bahamas) 19.5 kg of cocaine from a market value over $300,000. He admitted "to having been involved in drug trafficking and that he had to deliver the goods to a man in the Bahamas", he was later sentenced for drug trafficking to 5 years in prison. In his plea, Clodius Michel tried to convince the magistrate that his sentence was too severe, arguments which did not convince the Court of Appeal which upheld his sentence of 5 years imprisonment.
