iciHaiti - Drama : 11 years after the 2010 earthquake, 50,000 people still live in camps

11 years after the earthquake of January 12, 2010, with a magnitude of 7.3 on the Richter scale which hit Haiti at 4:53 pm, causing more than 220,000 deaths in 35 seconds, tens of thousands of injuries and forcing the displacement of 1.5 million people in camps, an investigation by the National Network for the Defense of Human Rights (RNDDH) identified no less than 26 camps still occupied.

24 of these relocation camps are located in the West department, notably in Delmas, Léogâne, Pétion-ville and Port-au-Prince, and 2 others are in the South-East department, notably in Jacmel.

Nearly 50,000 people left to their own, live in these camps in appalling conditions without services, without help and without any organization.
