iciHaiti - Politic : Jovenel Moïse obtains his biometric passport
Thursday, January 21, President Jovenel Moïse went to the Directorate of Immigration and Emigration (DIE) in Lalue, in order to complete the formalities for the production of his biometric passport.
"I am delighted that Haiti has finally entered the technological era in terms of travel documents," he said, adding "I congratulate the technicians of the DIE and the senior officials of the public administration who made it possible the realization of the electronic passport project. This important step allows Haiti to level up and facilitate the movement of its citizens abroad. [...] We have already been working on the electronic passport project for 4 years. Today it has become a reality. This Passport has both biometric and biographical data and respects the document. ICAO 9303 while protecting against identity theft."
