Earlier this week, on the sidelines of the National Carnival, Marie Giselhaine Mompremier, the Minister for the Status of Women and Women's Rights met in Port-de-Paix, representatives of women's organizations from the 10 communes of the North-West department.

In her introductory remarks, Minister Mompremier praised the presence and courage of Haitian women in general and Nordesians in particular, subsequently she sensitized women on the importance of their commitment in the struggle for emancipation. She invited them to perpetuate the networking in a dynamic of strengthening their capacity and leadership, stressing that with women parliamentarians, women will be better represented, in particular with, among other things, the vote for a gender-sensitive budget, empowerment of women.

The Minister renewed her commitment to work for the emergence of a fair, balanced, egalitarian Haitian society for its components of both genders, through an equitable participation of women in all political, economic, financial and communication decision-making bodies.
