iciHaiti - Contraband : 3 million cigarettes seized from Haiti

On Thursday, the Specialized Land Border Security Corps (Cesfront) intercepted and seized on Dominican territory just over 3 million contraband cigarettes of various brands from Haiti. 2.5 million were discovered on the border with Dajabón, 500,000 were seized in the municipality of Pepillo Salcedo, in the province of Montecristi.

In addition, Cesfront reports having arrested and handed over to justice in the last few days, 12 people accused of having committed crimes such as human trafficking and cattle theft.

Likewise, 79 motorcycles and 9 other vehicles used to transport illegal Haitians and contraband goods were seized as well as 184 pounds of marijuana.

Several vehicles and livestock, which had been stolen for the purpose of transporting them to Haiti, were also recovered and the livestock returned to their owners.
