iciHaiti - Jacmel : 25 women detained, violently beaten by prison officers
Human Rights activist Marie Ange Noël, also Coordinator of the feminist organization "Fanm Deside" in Jacmel, denounces with several other women's organizations that 25 prisoners were violently beaten in the courtyard of the penitentiary by several police officers of the prison.

According to Marie Ange Noël, an altercation between inmate Claudine Philippe in pre-trial detention for 8 years who requested the continuation of her judgment to Inspector Gérard Renard, one of the prison officials is at the origin of this beating.

Faced with the unworthy and unjustified behavior of this beating, activist Noël calls for an investigation, the identification of the agents concerned and sanctions for those responsible and rejects the allegations of the Commissioner of the Government of Jacmel, Me Lionel Chéryma, who suggests that the prisoners were preparing an escape justifying the intervention of investigative officers.
