iciHaiti - Insecurity : Reminder of the International Red Cross Movement

Following the events of armed violence affecting Haiti, its population, its doctors and its health structures, the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement would like to recall that the access of injured and otherwise affected people to structures, goods and services medical, must be guaranteed without discrimination and without any limitation.

Injured and otherwise affected persons must be protected at all times and under all circumstances and must not be arbitrarily deprived of their life or subjected to ill-treatment.

The work of the nursing staff, the means of transport and the medical infrastructures, who have been entrusted with the mission of preventing and alleviating the human suffering of people wherever they are. to protect life and health and to ensure respect for human beings, must be respected and protected, must not be prevented or hindered.

The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement is a neutral, impartial and independent humanitarian movement. Its mission is to protect the life and dignity of victims of natural disasters, armed conflicts or other situations of violence, providing relief and assistance whenever necessary. As such, respect for the emblem of the Red Cross and Red Crescent, ambulances and relief personnel, including volunteers, is crucial in the name of humanitarian principles.
