Injured and otherwise affected persons must be protected at all times and under all circumstances and must not be arbitrarily deprived of their life or subjected to ill-treatment. The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement is a neutral, impartial and independent humanitarian movement. Its mission is to protect the life and dignity of victims of natural disasters, armed conflicts or other situations of violence, providing relief and assistance whenever necessary.
